Alfredo Guerreño
Our club manager, Alfredo Guerreno, comes to us from Argentina, the land of so many polo greats. As a young boy, Alfredo became fascinated with the polo. Determined to play, he continuously showed up to the polo field, despite regularly being turned away for being too young.
Eventually, Alfredo got his opportunity to play, and he hasn’t looked back since. Upon moving to the United States in 1995, Alfredo soon found himself working at the Houston Polo Club. It was there that Alfredo began to put his superb Argentine horsemanship to work, making a name for himself as a skilled, patient horse trainer. Using Houston as his base, Alfredo traveled all over the United States playing polo, from New York to Chicago to California, before eventually settling at the Memphis Polo Club in 2003.
Now known as much for his smooth, classic polo style as his horsemanship, Alfredo provides the Memphis Polo Club with a true expert of the game. He approaches his duties as a polo instructor much in the same way that he approaches his duties as a horse trainer: with patience, positive encouragement, and clear communication.
Nick Cifuni
Although he is an American, Nick initially fell in love with the sport of polo as a young boy in Argentina, where he lived from 1985 to 1990.
Upon returning to the United States, Nick was determined to find a way to keep playing polo. Nick soon found a home at the Denver Polo Club, where he traded hard labor for opportunities on the field. His persistence was rewarded, as those around him began to recognize his talent and provide him with more opportunities to play.
After enrolling at Colorado State University, Nick earned himself a spot on the school’s traveling polo team. His hard work truly began to pay off in 2003, when he was awarded the PTF Intercollegiate Player of the Year Award.
Now in his fifth year as a professional polo player, Nick brings his own unique style of intensity and aggressiveness to the field every time he plays.
